Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Austria signed a cooperation program for 2022-2023

The program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Austria for 2022-2023 was signed today following political consultations in Ashgabat by Foreign Ministers Rashid Meredov and Michael Linhart.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during a constructive conversation, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries considered key vectors of cooperation, and also exchanged views on topical issues of the international agenda.

Both Turkmenistan and Austria expressed their readiness to build up fruitful cooperation in the field of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian interaction. The meeting participants noted the need to further intensify contacts in the field of energy, transport, trade, economics, healthcare, education, science and culture with the active participation of government and business structures of the two countries.

It was also proposed to hold the next 11th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Austrian Commission in the first half of 2022.

Upon the theme of a regional dialogue on strengthening security and ensuring stable growth, the ministers agreed that it is necessary to unite the efforts of the international community for a peaceful and humanitarian settlement of the Afghan problem.

Michael Linhart took up his duties as the head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry in October. Prior to his trip to Turkmenistan, on his tour of Central Asia, he visited Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
