The memory of the great Turkmen poet Mahtumkuli will be honored in the Golestan province

In the north of Iran, in the province of Golestan, where ethnic Turkmens live predominantly, cultural and educational events are planned in memory of the great poet and thinker Mahtumkuli Fragi. This was reported by “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” with reference to the statement of the deputy head of the Department of Culture and Islamic Orientation of the Golestan province, Ahmad Golchin.

So, today, on May 19, a video conference will be held organized by the Mahtumkuli Fragi Institute.

On Thursday, May 20, an event is planned in honor of the birthday of the great poet. It will take place in the Aktokay village at the resting place of Mahtumkuli Fragi and his father Dovletmammed Azadi.

The Iranian official added that this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the number of participants will be limited, and the event will be held in accordance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

It is expected that the governor, the head of the Department of Culture and Islamic Orientation of the Golestan province and others will speak at the ceremony. As part of the cultural program, Mahtumkuli's poems will be recited, a theatrical performance about his life and work will be presented, performances by artists and a thematic exhibition will be organized.

The source notes that recently a collection of poems by Mahtumkuli Fragi was published in Iran. The translation into Persian was carried out by six writers from the province of Golestan.
