Traffic will be restricted in Ashgabat for two weeks

For two weeks, the highways of the capital of Turkmenistan will be put at the disposal of cyclists. The initiative to hold environmental actions from May 10 to 25, in which everyone can take part, was made today by the hyakimlik and public organizations of the city of Ashgabat, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

Today, the world is more aware than ever of the importance of environmental issues, without which it is impossible to achieve sustainable development. Every year, the President of Turkmenistan launches a nationwide campaign to plant trees, which has a beneficial effect on the ecology and comfort of the urban environment.

The Head of state also laid down the tradition of regular bike rides held in many countries in support of various social, sports and environmental projects. In Turkmenistan, they unite the residents of cities and villages, the older and younger generations.

The bicycle marathons that are held contribute to the promotion of public health and the popularization of cycling. Such events motivate their participants to practice their favorite sports, carry a positive emotional charge, combining entertainment and propaganda functions.

Environmental actions – a worthy continuation of the good traditions of caring for nature – will take a significant place in a number of events organized in honor of the celebration of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat on May 25 this year, the official material of the State News Agency emphasizes.
