Today, in accordance with the schedule approved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, farmers of the Dashoguz velayat began sowing cotton, where, due to climatic conditions, sowing starts somewhat later than in other regions of the country, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The center of celebrations on the occasion of the beginning of sowing was the etrap named after S.A.Niyazov, where exhibitions of agricultural machinery and products of the agro-industrial complex of the northern region were deployed.
According to a good tradition, the beginning of the sowing campaign was blessed by the venerable elders. Having raised a prayer to the Almighty for the welfare and prosperity of the Motherland, the Turkmen people, the leader of the nation, they threw the first cotton seeds into the ground, and then gave way to machine operators.
This year, in the northern region, the cotton wedge is 155 thousand hectares, from which it is planned to collect 275 thousand tons of “white gold”. Farmers of the velayat prefer medium staple cotton varieties.
During the sowing campaign, more than 2 thousand 20 high-performance tractors, as well as 452 seeders and cotton cultivators will be involved. 132 brigades have been created in the velayat, which are provided with mobile workshops, welding machines and vehicles for the transportation of fuel. In general, all this will ensure an uninterrupted rhythm of agricultural work, laying a reliable foundation for the future harvest.
Earlier we reported that the first to plant cotton on March 24 were the farmers of the Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary velayats.
This year, as in the past, Turkmenistan plans to collect 1 million 250 thousand tons of “white gold”, including 280 thousand tons in Ahal velayat, 10 thousand tons in Balkan velayat, 275 thousand tons in Dashoguz velayat, Lebap velayat - 320 thousand tons and Mary velayat - 365 thousand tons.
