In the review material “Turkmenistan - a country of progressive development”, which opens the next volume, it is noted that during the period under review, radical transformations were carried out in the field of industrial diversification, the development of natural resources, and the development of international transport corridors. One of the main social and political events of the year was the second meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, at which the tasks related to improving the activities of the representative body of legislative power and the transition to a bicameral parliament were identified.

A great victory of Turkmen diplomacy was the adoption, at the initiative of Turkmenistan at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly of the Resolution on proclaiming 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Confidence, as well as the election by the UN Economic and Social Council of Turkmenistan as a member of the Executive Council of the World Food Program for 2020-2022, Commission The United Nations Population and Development Organization for the period 2020–2024; and the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs for the period 2020–2023.

In recent years, a huge amount of work has been done in Turkmenistan to preserve and popularize the historical and cultural heritage. A clear evidence of this is the inclusion of the Turkmen national art of carpet weaving in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
