Today the Day of Diplomatic Workers is celebrated in Turkmenistan. On the occasion of the event, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the diplomats with a welcome address, in particular:
“I cordially congratulate you on the beginning of the scientific conference “Diplomacy of Turkmenistan - history, present, future” and also on the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan!
The foreign policy of our country, based on the principles of neutrality, contributes to the development of political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations in the international space.
The diplomatic service of the country takes an active part in the organization of large-scale events on the occasion of the glorious 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, as well as the celebration of the International Year of Peace and Confidence at the United Nations level.
Important events will be held in our country and abroad, related to the national motto of 2021 “Turkmenistan - Motherland of Peace and Trust” and for the purpose of world propaganda of the 25th anniversary of neutrality of our Motherland.
These glorious dates on the example of our Motherland symbolize the celebration of peace, trust and mutually beneficial cooperation.
From the first steps of its independence, Turkmenistan adheres to the principles of neutrality in international relations and foreign policy.
The positive experience accumulated over the past 25 years has in fact confirmed the full compliance of the neutrality policy with our national interests and UN goals. Evidence of this is the recognition of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality by two special resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly.
The opening and fruitful activities in the capital of Turkmenistan - Ashgabat - the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia also demonstrate the peace-making potential of neutrality.
The adoption of our country's proposals by the General Assembly of the United Nations of a large package of important resolutions concerning peace, security and sustainable development is evidence of the fruitfulness of our strategic cooperation. The holding of representative international forums and meetings in Turkmenistan on international politics and diplomacy also confirms the above. All this gives a powerful impetus to the further improvement of the culture of peace and trust, the principles of neutrality in the countries of the planet.
We believe that the establishment of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace and Security at the suggestion of Turkmenistan will open up wide opportunities for more effective use of the existing political and diplomatic tools.
Turkmenistan, steadfastly adhering to the principles of permanent neutrality, extends friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with the countries of the region and the world.
As a result of the successful implementation of the strategy of the foreign policy course of our state, the necessary conditions are created for the implementation of major international projects in such important areas as energy, transport and communications, ecology, high-tech “green economy”, cultural and humanitarian sphere.
Today, Turkmenistan, with its high levels of dynamic development, is confident of a bright future. The foreign policy and diplomacy of our neutral state, based on the culture of peace and trust, is aimed at forming a favorable environment in the international arena aimed at facilitating the implementation of long-term national programs.
In this context, the diplomatic service of the country has high requirements for the effective use of effective methods of political-diplomatic, international-legal and trade-economic consultations at the interstate and intergovernmental levels.
I am confident that the diplomatic service of our state will do its best to address the important tasks set for the comprehensive protection of national interests and to increase the authority of the Motherland in the system of international relations.
In Turkmenistan, we pay great attention to the deep scientific and practical study of the successful policy of neutrality in the system of international relations. I am confident that the current conference will provide ample opportunities for a meaningful exchange of views on the positive experience of our country's foreign policy and diplomacy, as well as its special contribution to strengthening peace”.
