President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov granted a pardon to more than 2000 prisoners in honor of 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, which will be celebrated on the 12th of December. Head of the state announced it today by signing of relevant decree during the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers which was broadcasted on national television.
“Guided by the principles of mercy and humanism of our ancestors, we systematically release from punishment citizens who have committed crimes. In accordance with the Decree that I signed today, 2078 citizens of Turkmenistan and 4 citizens of foreign states have been released from further serving their sentences” said Berdimuhamedov on the air of the “Vatan” news program.
In this regard Turkmen leader entrusted to the deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, secretary of National Council Ch.Amanov and to the chiefs of law-enforcement authorities to take all required measures to make those who have been pardoned leave their places of detention and celebrate the holiday with their families, to Hyakims of velayats, etraps and cities to take care of the employment of pardoned citizens.
