President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov today sent deep condolences to the Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen in connection with the terrorist act that took place in the city of Vienna, resulting in numerous human casualties and injuries.

"Turkmenistan, while strongly condemning any manifestations of terrorism and extremism, fully supports the efforts of the international community to combat this threat and eliminate it," the message reads.

On behalf of the people and the Government of Turkmenistan and personally President of Turkmenistan conveyed words of deep empathy and support to the families and friends of those killed and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured, told the news program "Watan" Turkmen television.

According to foreign media, the terrorist attack in Vienna occurred on the evening of November 2. At about 20: 00 local time, a criminal or several criminals opened fire on passers - by in six different locations in the center of Vienna, located close to each other.

Five people were killed in the attack, including 20-year-old terrorist Feyzulay Kuytim, who was previously convicted in Austria for participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. Another 17 people were injured.

A minute of silence was declared across Austria at noon on Tuesday in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack. And from Wednesday, the country will begin three days of national mourning.
