The foreign Minister of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the heads of representative offices of UN structural divisions

Key issues of cooperation were discussed today during an online meeting of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with heads of representative offices of UN structural divisions and international financial institutions accredited in Ashgabat.

According to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the participants of the meeting emphasized the effectiveness of joint plans and programs, in particular, in the areas of health, education and culture. In this aspect, the focus is on the framework program for cooperation in the field of sustainable development between the government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2021-2025, signed in March this year. On the basis of a document with the relevant UN agencies was developed by the country program.

The implementation of plans and programs to counteract acute infectious diseases, including timely vaccination, prevention and public awareness, was discussed separately. In this context, the need to pool the necessary resources and expertise to overcome the economic consequences of the pandemic was noted.

They also exchanged views on promoting cooperation in the field of digitalization, combating climate change, and preserving the world's cultural heritage. During the meeting, Turkmenistan's commitment to fulfilling its obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law was confirmed.

The foreign Minister noted the important contribution of all foreign partners working in Turkmenistan, including the office of the UN Permanent coordinator, the offices of UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, who, the world Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the European Bank for reconstruction and development to solving pressing socio-economic issues.
