Issues related to the implementation Of the program for the development of the agricultural complex, strengthening food security, the transition of the agro-industrial complex to a digital system, as well as increasing food production were put on the agenda of the working meeting held by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday.

According to the state news Agency of Turkmenistan, the head of state listened to the relevant reports of some Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers on the work done to ensure food abundance in the country, and also gave recommendations for the successful solution of the tasks set.

The first floor was gave to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers E. Orazgeldiev, who reported on the state of Affairs in the agro-industrial sector and the course of seasonal agricultural campaigns.

This year, the corresponding areas of Turkmenistan were sown with potatoes, vegetables and other crops. Currently, winter crops are care for in accordance with established agro technical standards.

In order to increase food abundance in the country in 2021, it is plan to significantly expand the acreage and increase the volume of yields for growing potatoes, fruits and vegetables and other agricultural products.

In addition, according to the relevant Decree of the head of state, work is carry out annually in Turkmenistan on planting fruit trees and grapes, expanding the areas allocated for them.

After hearing the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pointed out the importance of improving the management of the agro-industrial sector and increasing its efficiency, which should be facilitate by digitalization of the industry, the introduction of effective mechanisms that stimulate the work of farmers and livestock breeders.

Focusing on the tasks of ensuring food abundance in the country through the comprehensive development of the agricultural complex, increasing the capacity of its processing segment with a focus on the production of a wide range of import-substituting products, the head of state gave the Deputy Prime Minister relevant instructions.

Then the floor was gave to the Minister of agriculture and environmental protection M. Bayramdurdiev, who in his report noted that the country is carrying out large-scale work on radical reform of the agro-industrial sector, consistent implementation of the state environmental policy, and effective use of land resources.

As a result, all opportunities are create to obtain generous crop yields and to systematically increase food abundance. Comprehensive measures are being implemented to increase the production of various agricultural products. On behalf of the head of state, together with the velayat hyakimliks, proper work is being carried out to expand the area for forage crops.

Summing up the report, the President stressed the importance of the reforms implemented in the agricultural sector. Noting the need for a scientific approach to solving the tasks set, active application of advanced technologies in practice in an organic combination with the best domestic experience, the leader of the nation gave specific instructions to the Minister.

The next floor was given to the Minister of trade and foreign economic relations O. Gurbannazarov. As noted in the report, a lot of work is also being done in the shopping complex to successfully implement the country's socio-economic development Program for 2019-2025.

In order to ensure uninterrupted supply of various types of food products to the country's markets and stores, commercial enterprises subordinate to the Ministry purchase food products from domestic producers. Appropriate measures are also being taken to create a consumer basket that includes the main types of goods, including food.

As part of the ongoing work on the production of import-substituting products and creating a sufficient reserve of them, fruits and vegetables grown by local agricultural producers are sent to storage facilities.

In the context of the digitalization strategy, the Ministry's stores, including those operating via the Internet, are gradually installing modern equipment and software. Work is underway to make changes and additions to the current legislation aimed at providing legal support for measures to improve trade activities, reduce the volume of imported goods and increase the volume of domestic export-oriented products.

After hearing the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the need to saturate the country's markets and stores with essential goods, primarily food, which should be sold to the population at affordable prices.

Emphasizing the importance of expanding the range of products that are in high consumer demand, the Turkmen leader instructed the Minister to ensure strict control over the purchase of popular goods from local producers, as well as their availability to the population.

Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs D.Hudaiberdyev reported on the work carried out in the private sector to ensure food abundance. As noted, in January-September 2020, the growth rate in the production of agricultural and food products compared to the same period of the previous year was 131.2 percent.

Poultry farming is actively developing with the use of modern technologies. Poultry farms for the production of poultry meat and egg production complexes were built and put into operation. Along with this, the construction of new specialized farms continues. Thus, the domestic market of the country is fully provided with chicken eggs and meat, the head of the UIET noted.

Members of the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs are actively building livestock complexes for breeding breeds of cattle. Currently, the largest complex of this profile in the region is being built in Mary province. Its commissioning will allow the production of milk powder, butter and various types of ice cream. All this will reduce the import of products.

The Chairman of the SPTA also reported that modern greenhouses have been built all over the country, where all kinds of vegetables, including organic tomatoes, are grown today.

In addition, fruit trees and vineyards were planted, which made it possible to start production of selected fruits and grapes and saturate the domestic market with them.

There is a growing number of processing plants that produce dried fruits, fruit juices and ice cream on an industrial scale. Enterprises built under the import substitution program produce various food products.

Summing up the report, the head of state emphasized the huge role assigned to the non-state sector of the national economy in ensuring food abundance in the country, steadily increasing its industrial and export potential.

Noting the need to continue the large-scale work on import substitution, intensification of agriculture, development of processing industries and increase the range of competitive products produced in Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed specific instructions to the Chairman of the UIET.

Then the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Ch. Gylyjov, who noted that the country’s markets are provided with a variety of food products from domestic producers, made the report. The measures implemented in this direction contribute to the annual reduction of food imports.

To this end, steps are being taken to establish the production of sunflower and butter, margarine, sugar, as well as the cultivation of bananas, citrus fruits and other types of fruit imported from abroad.

In accordance with the state programs, members of the SPTA are working on the construction and commissioning of livestock and poultry complexes, increasing the number of livestock, increasing the production of meat and dairy products and other products.

Through the efforts of the SPT members, 138 greenhouses were built, equipped with modern, including water-saving technologies, and 147 facilities that are more similar are being built.

Along with providing the country's domestic market with environmentally friendly, high-quality products, there are also prospects for increasing its exports, and cold storage facilities are being built.

Summing up the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that it is necessary to continue supporting the business initiative in the field of production of import-substituting and export-oriented products and expanding its range.

The head of state also instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to further modernize the shopping complex, study and fully meet consumer demand for food products, and improve customer service culture.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Secretary of the State Security Council Ch. Amanov reported on the progress of the implementation of instructions by subordinate structures to monitor the provision of food abundance in the country.

Currently, due to the current situation in the global economy, this issue is regularly analyzed and appropriate measures are determined for implementation at the state level.

Summing up the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that it is necessary to strictly control the issues of maintaining commodity abundance in the country, as well as the availability of food.

The head of state stressed that in order to further saturate the domestic market with a variety of local products, it is necessary to keep in the center of attention the implementation of instructions by the relevant structures to ensure food security.

Focusing on the priority tasks in this direction, the head of state addressed specific instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of the state security Council.

Continuing the meeting and summarizing the reports, the President of Turkmenistan stressed that the country pays special attention to the development of agriculture as one of the main components of the national economy, and the implementation of systemic reforms in this direction. To this end, significant funds are allocated for the development of the agro-industrial complex, and a lot of work is being done to further strengthen its material and technical base.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov continued that large-scale work is also being carried out in our country to protect the environment and ensure environmental well-being. Issues of creating a favorable environment, protecting public health and approving the principles of a healthy lifestyle, rational use of natural resources and systematic introduction of environmentally friendly technologies into production are among the priorities of the state.

Addressing the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers E. Orazgeldiev and the Minister of agriculture and environmental protection M. Bayramdurdiev, in order to provide the population with sufficient potatoes, vegetables, melons and other food products, as well as reduce its imports, the head of state instructed to determine the amount of these crops sown in the regions in 2021 and conduct preparatory work in this direction.

In order to expand the production of fruit products and grapes in the country and provide them to Turkmen citizens, an order was given to increase the volume of planting fruit trees and vineyards.

In order to develop animal husbandry, meet the population's demand for animal products, increase the volume of its production and ensure food abundance, it is necessary to increase the number of livestock, the head of state said.

Continuing the meeting, the Turkmen leader addressed the Minister of trade and foreign economic relations O. Gurbannazarov with an order to provide customers with a variety of fresh food products produced in the country through the retail network on a daily basis on the basis of cooperation with domestic producers.

Along with sufficient supply of food to domestic markets, regular monitoring should be carried out to maintain stable prices, the President of Turkmenistan said.

Taking into account the approach of the 25th anniversary of neutrality, which will be widely celebrated, as well as the New Year, it is necessary to start relevant preparations related to food products today.

As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, members of the SPTA should analyze the program of construction of small, medium and large businesses that produce import-substituting food products and, if necessary, propose the construction of new such facilities, giving specific instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister in this regard.
