Turkmenistan to purchase vaccines and equipment for immunization from UNICEF for 2021-2025

The decree signed today by the President of Turkmenistan authorizes the Minister of health and medical industry to sign the "plan for the purchase of vaccines and equipment for immunization for 2021-2025 within the framework of the "Memorandum of understanding between the government of Turkmenistan and UNICEF on the provision of procurement services".

This document was signed in order to prevent diseases through vaccines and continue mutually beneficial cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund in this work, the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reports.

As noted at today's Government meeting, vaccines and immunization products are periodically purchased on the basis of the Memorandum of understanding between the government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for 2016-2020. Within the framework of many years of fruitful cooperation, the practice of using new vaccines, effective responses to various infectious diseases are being studied, and advanced innovative methods are being widely introduced.

Deputy Prime Minister M. Mammedova informed that taking into account the expiration of the above-mentioned Memorandum and the Additional Agreement to it this year, as well as in order to improve immune prevention activities in the country, a draft Plan for the purchase of vaccines and equipment for immunization for 2021-2025 has been prepared.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the large-scale work done in recent years to protect public health and prevent diseases.

major role in this activity is assigned to cooperation with reputable international organizations. Thus, with the assistance of the UN Children's Fund, Turkmenistan regularly purchases who-certified immune biological drugs
Emphasizing the importance of the work carried out in this important area, the President pointed out the need to study the best world practices in the field of healthcare and further develop productive cooperation with interested foreign partners – both with international organizations and with specialized medical structures.

After signing the Decree, the head of state gave relevant instructions for implementation.
