UNDP (UNDP) handed over sprayers for disinfectants to the sanitary and epidemiological service (SES) of the Ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan. The sprayers were purchased as part of a grant from the UNDP rapid response Fund (RRF) received by the country office in Turkmenistan to combat the effects of the global pandemic.

Recall that in July 2020, the government of Turkmenistan adopted a plan of operational socio-economic measures in Turkmenistan to counteract the pandemic of acute infectious diseases in Turkmenistan, developed with the support of the United Nations in Turkmenistan.

This national plan of response to the socio-economic impact of the global pandemic consists of five areas of work that together constitute a comprehensive package of measures to mitigate the negative impact of the global pandemic on the socio-economic situation in Turkmenistan. The Plan pays special attention to the most vulnerable groups of the population, in accordance with the principle of "leaving no one behind".

"The government of Turkmenistan has taken active measures to prevent the threat of COVID-19 and protect its citizens through timely and appropriate actions. We are proud to support these actions and offer our services. UNDP has already provided more than $ 230,000 in a rapid response Fund grant to support the most vulnerable populations affected by the global pandemic. We will continue to work to minimize the socio-economic impact of the pandemic on Turkmenistan," said Ms. Natia Natsvlishvili, Acting President of the Republic of Turkmenistan. Permanent representative of UNDP.
