Berdimuhamedov: “About 2.5 thousand objects worth more than 37 billion dollars are being built in Turkmenistan”

"Currently, about 2.5 thousand large objects are being built in Turkmenistan with a total cost of more than 37 billion us dollars," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan.

The head of state stressed that within the framework of large-scale program work on the development of urban and rural environment, industrialization of the country, creation of transport and logistics infrastructure, construction of an unprecedented new large residential area in Ashgabat, the administrative center of the Akhal velayat, modern villages and settlements, including in the vicinity of the Turkmen lake "Altyn Asyr" is underway.

In accordance with the National rural program alone, this year, as of September 1, 2 health homes, 216 kilometers of engineering networks and facilities, about 510 kilometers of communication systems, and housing with a total area of 792.3 thousand square meters were built and put into operation in the country.

It is planned to build a gas chemical complex in Kiyanli, a shop for the production of phosphorous fertilizer at the Turkmenabat chemical plant, a gas turbine power plant in Dashoguz province, and start the second stage of industrial development of the “Galkynysh” gas field.

At the moment we are implementing projects on creation of international transport corridors, construction of high-speed highway Ashgabat-Turkmenabat, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India implementing regional projects.

In recent years, large amounts of investments have been made for creation of new capacities for the production of glass, concrete and other products to new countries, resulting in several times increased the volume of production in building materials industry. As an example, the head of Turkmenistan cited the construction of the second stage of cement plants in Baharden and Lebap province, which is currently being carried out by representatives of the country's private sector.

According to the head of state, the main tasks of the domestic construction industry are to increase production volumes, improve the quality and competitiveness of construction products, and ensure the safety of construction works and services.

As part of the development of the economy through diversification, state programs for the production of import-substituting products, increasing the volume of exports of domestic goods, and creating an electronic industry are being successfully implemented.

"We can proudly say that Turkmenistan, which was recently an agricultural country, currently produces electronic equipment, including computers," Berdimuhamedov said.

At the same time, the Turkmen leader also outlined such important tasks as blurring the differences between cities and villages, urbanizing villages, and widely introducing innovative technologies to increase productivity and improve working conditions.

The President of Turkmenistan also set a task to speed up the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline and the gas compressor unit in Central Garagum with an annual capacity of 2 billion cubic meters.

The head of state noted that the production base of the textile industry of Turkmenistan is also being modernized, and large amounts of investment are being directed to create high-tech enterprises that not only saturate the domestic market, but also export products to dozens of countries. With the commissioning of new textile complexes in the Kaka and Babadayhan etraps in the near future, the capacity of this industry will significantly increase.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov assigned an important place in the country's industrial development to the electric power industry, saying that its capabilities will significantly increase in the near future. The creation of a single energy ring in the country, as well as the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line, continues.

"At the same time, we are also considering the potential of solar and wind energy," the head of state said, noting that in accordance with the concept for the development of the lake region "Altyn Asyr" for 2019-2025, villages and facilities under construction here will be provided with energy from renewable sources, the State news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The meeting of the Halk Maslahaty, which has priority issues of state life on its agenda, is being held under the chairmanship of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the first time via direct video link.
