Turkmenistan held talks with the International Monetary Fund

The heads of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Finance and economy and the State Statistics Committee held a regular round of consultations today between the International Monetary Fund mission headed by Natalia Tamiris.

According to the state news Agency of Turkmenistan, the video meeting discussed trends in the economic development of Turkmenistan, analyzed data for the first half of 2020, as well as updated indicators for the implementation of the state Budget for this year and the draft budget for 2021.

According to the representatives of the Turkmen side, when developing the state Budget for the next year, several scenarios and external risks are taken into account, as well as preference is given to social programs, sustainable development and improving the level of well-being of the population.

The meeting participants discussed the preparation of the IMF publication "world economic Outlook for October 2020", which will assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the medium-term economic development prospects of countries, including Turkmenistan.

The recommendations of the IMF for further economic growth of the country are in line with the program tasks set by the President of Turkmenistan and consistently implemented in state policy.

During the current meeting, the importance of comprehensive measures taken in the country to increase investment in strengthening the capacity of the national health system was highlighted.

The international monetary Fund is a partner of Turkmenistan in implementing economic reforms and provides technical assistance to support ongoing reforms of macroeconomic significance.
