Foreigners who are close relatives of Russian citizens will be able to issue visas to enter the country in a simplified manner. This is reported by TASS with reference to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
As the Prime Minister of Russia said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, foreigners who have close relatives with Russian citizenship will be able to apply for a visa in a simplified manner.
According to him, these will be considered spouses, parents, children, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandchildren.
"Such relatives will be able to issue long — term private visas with a validity period of up to one year, and this can be done on the basis of a simple written application of our citizen," Mikhail Mishustin explained.
Also, the law will exclude the norm according to which foreign citizens had to travel outside of Russia every 3 months in order to retain their right to obtain a visa.
To do this, a number of changes will be made to the law "on the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation".
Starting from January 1, 2021, foreigners will be able to apply for a visa to visit Russia online. The introduction of a "universal single-entry electronic visa for short-term stay of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation" is provided for by a law signed by the President of Russia. The law makes it easier to obtain visas for visiting or business trips, as a tourist, as well as for participating in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic and sports events. The e-visa will be issued as a single-entry visa for up to 60 calendar days with a permitted stay of up to 16 days in Russia. The consular Department of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat and the consular post in Turkmenbashi are responsible for issuing Russian visas on the territory of Turkmenistan.
