Deputy U.S. Ambassador Valerie Chittenden will serve as charge d'affaires of the U.S. Mission to Turkmenistan during the absence of Ambassador Matthew S. Klimov in Ashgabat. This is stated in a press release issued today by the us Embassy.
Ms. Chittenden is a veteran of the U.S. diplomatic corps with 18 years of experience and extensive experience in the region.
Recall that US President Donald trump temporarily appointed the American Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew S. Klimov to a high-level position in the State Department. Until the end of 2020, he will serve as the inspector General of the state Department, after which he will return to Ashgabat.
