Foreign students who will not be able to start studying at Russian universities on September 1 due to restrictions on international communication with their state will be able to study remotely until these restrictions are lifted, Interfax reports, referring to the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation.

Thus, MSU announced that foreign students will start studying remotely on September 1, and they will be able to switch to full-time education after the borders are opened. The University promised to hold online lectures for foreign first-year students about the traditions and features of studying at the University, as well as about the culture of Russia and the sights of Moscow.

Those who can come to Russia and start studying full-time will have to pass a 14-day quarantine and pass tests for a new coronavirus infection, the Ministry said.

In the 2019/20 academic year, 297,993 foreign students studied in Russia. Most of them are citizens of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, China, Tajikistan, Ukraine, India, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
