In a letter addressed to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, world trade organization Director General Robert Azevedu congratulates the Turkmen leader on granting our country observer status in the world trade organization. This is reported by the state news Agency of Turkmenistan.

"This achievement is the result of Your activities, which you started in January 2013 with the aim of establishing official relations with the world trade organization.

I am sure that the observer status will open up new opportunities for Turkmenistan to integrate into the multilateral trading system and the world economy.

In the future, the WTO Secretariat is ready to assist Turkmenistan in exercising its observer functions, as well as in preparing for membership negotiations. Please accept, Mr. President, the assurances of my very high respect for You," the message reads.

Earlier, we wrote that further steps of Turkmenistan as an observer in the WTO were discussed.
