Qatar will host matches of the AFC Champions League 2020 in the Western region

The Qatar football Association has been approved as the host of the 2020 Champions League matches in the Western region, according to the official website of the Asian Football Confederation.

Thus, the group stage and play-offs of the AFC Champions League in the Western region will be held in a centralized format in September. The meetings will be held from September 14 to October 3 in Doha. In the country where the world Cup will be held in 2022, new stadiums are being launched and the most favorable conditions for hosting matches are being created.

In Qatar, the group stage matches will begin with the 3rd round. The 1/8 finals, quarterfinals and semifinals will consist of a single match.

To date, two incomplete rounds have been played in the group stage of the AFC Champions League. Earlier, the AFC confirmed that it intends to complete the drawing of the club competitions in 2020.

In group “B”, the only representative of Central Asia is “Pahtakor” Tashkent, which, having won two victories at the start and scored 6 points, leads the club from Saudi Arabia, “Al-Hilal”. The teams of “Shabab Al Ahli” from the UAE and “Shahr Hodro” from Iran lost their opening two matches and did not score any points.

If "Pahtakor" will be released in the next phase, 26 September will take place the match of 1/8 final, quarter finals — September 30, and the semi — finals- 3 Oct.

The AFC Champions League final will be held on December 5, and the last FIFA Club World Cup in the current format will start on December 9.
