Yesterday, France celebrated the national holiday Bastille Day, which because of the COVID-19 pandemic was held on a reduced program, Interfax reports, offering a photo report from the event.

At the suggestion of President Emmanuel Macron, the celebrations focused on honoring medical personnel and other workers involved in the fight against COVID-19.

For the first time since 1945, the traditional military parade on the Champs-Elysees was canceled. Divisions of the main branches of the armed forces marched through the square without involving military equipment, as well as military musicians.

Medical workers passed under the solemn music.

The usual crowd for this day was not present.

The celebration ended with the fact that the pilots of the Patrol de France group painted the sky in the colors of the French tricolor, and also added a white stripe, thereby saluting the medical staff of France.
