These days, meetings of working and regional structures of the “Egmont” Group are held in the video format, which are attended by representatives of the Ministry of Finance and economy of Turkmenistan.

“Egmont” group is an informal Association of financial intelligence units (FIUs). The purpose of the organization is to provide a platform for effective interaction of FIUs worldwide in order to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism, as well as to support the implementation of relevant national programs, including the expansion of financial information exchange, staff training, and the development of communication channels using advanced technologies.

Comprehensive work is being carried out in Turkmenistan to strengthen the institutional framework of the national system for countering the legalization of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism, as well as to improve relevant legislation.

The financial monitoring service under the Ministry of Finance and economy, established in October 2018, has a key role in this process.

A significant step in this direction was the accession of Turkmenistan in 2010 to the Eurasian group on countering the legalization of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism (EAG). This has also led to increased cooperation between our country and the international group for the development of financial measures to combat money laundering (FATF) and other organizations in this area.

Turkmenistan demonstrates its unwavering commitment to its obligations by joining a number of important international documents, including the UN Conventions against transnational organized crime and against corruption, the State news Agency of our country reports.
