Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection, the State Committee of water management and its subordinate division - the Institute "Turkmensuvylymtaslama" took part in the interdepartmental meeting on the preparation of bills in the field of land and water use, the State publishing service reports.
Experts in the field of legislation have been working for three years in a joint project aimed at adapting agriculture to the effects of climate change, as well as carrying out relevant activities, including the use of agronomic innovations to protect agricultural production. Project activities are coordinated by the country's agro ecological Department and UNDP.
The agenda included discussion of three draft by-laws in the field of land and water use:
Guidelines for the development of technological standards for water use;
Regulations on the use of on-farm reclamation systems, the Procedure for granting land plots for ownership, use and lease arising from the Land and Water codes;
Law of Turkmenistan on land reclamation.
The result of the work of experts for the preparation of draft Law of Turkmenistan "On State land cadaster", Land code of Turkmenistan, the Rules of conducting the state land cadaster, which is under approval. The country has an extensive scheme for the use of land with a different set of rights and obligations for individuals and legal entities, as well as daykhan associations and farms that are granted land on lease, including up to 99 years, and for permanent use.
