"We must widely implement water-saving technologies in production, using the best practices of foreign countries," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at an expanded meeting of the government of Turkmenistan, addressing Deputy Prime Minister Esynmyrat Orazgeldiev, who oversees the agricultural sector, khakims and heads of the agricultural complex.

It is necessary to actively implement programs for the development of agriculture and, especially, to increase the volume of cotton production, the head of state noted.

At the moment, the wheat harvest is almost finished. More than 1 million 400 thousand tons of grain were collected, which became a significant contribution to ensuring the country's food security. Excess wheat can be exported to foreign countries. A rich cotton crop is also maturing in the fields, which is also of particular importance for our country.

Taking this into account, it is necessary to take care of timely and high-quality agricultural activities, prepare agricultural machinery for the harvesting campaign, the President stressed, instructing Vice-Premiers P. Agamyradov and E. Orazgeldiev to intensify work on the development of agriculture, especially water supply, increase soil productivity, and develop new lands. The head of state also ordered to speed up the implementation of the program to improve the ecological condition of the Karakum desert, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
