According to UN statistics, Turkmenistan has become one of the best countries in the world in the field of maternal and child health.

Thus, according to UN estimates published last year, the maternal mortality rate at birth in our country is one of the lowest for this indicator in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Maternity and child protection is one of the priorities of the socially oriented state policy, which implements dozens of projects and programs of national and regional significance.

Modern medical and health facilities have been built in the capital and the regions, primarily the “Ene Mahri” maternal and child health Centers.

In accordance with who recommendations, national programs have been successfully implemented, in particular on breastfeeding and the fight against anemia, which have been highly evaluated by international structures.

Turkmenistan has completely or partially got rid of many types of diseases that are common in the region. Thanks to the widespread immunization of the population, a number of infectious diseases have been eliminated in our country, including dracunculiasis, polio, malaria, measles and rubella. The achieved success is confirmed by the relevant international certificates.

In close cooperation with foreign partners, systematic and long-term work is being carried out to fortify food products, in particular flour and salt, with iodine and iron in order to prevent diseases associated with a lack of these microelements in the human body.

Prevention, timely diagnosis and treatment of various diseases are of great importance for reproductive health and reducing maternal mortality. Along with this, physical culture and sports are being popularized, and conditions are being created for the establishment of a healthy lifestyle.

Special attention is paid to strengthening the social status of the family, the role of women in the upbringing of the younger generation, and the promotion of traditional family values.

Legal guarantees provide social protection for women and allow working mothers to devote considerable time to raising their children.

Mothers with many children who have raised eight or more children enjoy state benefits and are awarded the honorary title "Ene Mahri", the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
