The UN regional center for preventive diplomacy for Central Asia (RCPDCA) has announced an essay contest on the theme "Voices of youth from Central Asia – UN75 and Regional peace and security", in which young people from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan are invited to participate. This is reported by the press center of the RSPCA.

The competition is organized within the framework of the project "RCPDCA Academy of preventive diplomacy" and is open to young people aged 18 to 35 years. Citizens of these States who live abroad and citizens of other countries who are currently studying in any of the above six States are also eligible to participate.

Applications must be sent to UNRCCA-Academy@un.org until July 31, 2020.

The key idea of the contest is for young people to reflect on the world they want to see in 25 years – the year of the 100th anniversary of the United Nations-and how preventive diplomacy and regional peace and security can affect their vision. Competitive essays should reflect a picture of regional peace and security, meet the goals of the "Youth, peace and security" and "Women, peace and security" agendas, or any other area of the United Nations Security Council.

Central Asian youth have a unique opportunity to bring their ideas and proposals to the most influential people in the world. These ideas will be used in public debates, as well as by national and international leaders. They will attract greater participation from civil society and strengthen international cooperation.

The award-winning essays will be published in the collection in English and Russian. The book will be presented to world leaders and senior officials during the 75th anniversary of the UN, which will be held in September 2020 in New York.

This publication will be offered to various governments, and an electronic version will be available on the RCPDCA website.
