Mass events marked today in Turkmenistan the international children's day, which is included in the list of official holiday dates of our country as an expression of solidarity with the world community, our state's commitment to the fundamental ideas and principles of the UN regarding the rights and interests of children, care for the younger generation.
These principles are enshrined in the UN Convention on the rights of the child adopted in 1989, which Turkmenistan also ratified in 1994, confirming its high responsibility to ensure the most favorable living conditions for the youngest citizens.
Respect for the rights of the child remains an essential aspect of national legislation and social policy. Recently, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree approving a Program for improving the activities of preschool institutions in the field of early development and improving the preparation of children for school in Turkmenistan for 2020-2025 and a Plan for its implementation.
Kristin Weigand, representative of the United Nations Children's Fund in Turkmenistan, in her address today on the occasion of International children's day, thanked the Government for its continuous efforts to provide a solid political basis for achieving results in early development and child education, and confirmed the readiness of UNICEF to continue supporting this work.
Together with the representative office of this organization, the Ministry of education is holding a drawing contest among preschoolers on the theme "My happy family", which was launched today. Pupils of all kindergartens – and this is one thousand seventy-five preschool institutions-were United by this creative festival, which will last for a month.
The organizers decided not to determine the winners according to certain criteria, but to give each child freedom of expression, and then hold an online exhibition of children's drawings, publish them on the Internet pages of the country's media, and use them for the design of thematic booklets and brochures.
One of the centers of festive events in the capital today is the Park of culture and recreation "Ashgabat". In addition to various attractions, there were book exhibitions that attracted the attention of children with bright covers of colorful children's publications, performances of children's creative groups and circus artists. Ringing laughter, joyful exclamations of delight and surprise, cheerful music filled the entire space of the Park.

Exhibitions of crafts and original creative works of young authors, performances of dance ensembles and musicians were organized on the site in front of the Palace building.
The state takes care of children left without parents, creating all conditions for them to find a large and friendly family, feel needed, surrounded by attention.
Today, this humane tradition implies a set of legal guarantees to ensure and protect the rights and legitimate interests of the child, as well as a system of economic measures, targeted social actions aimed at fully involving orphaned children in the social environment, preparing them for independent life, developing socially significant and creative activity, and fostering high moral qualities, patriotism and citizenship.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pays great attention to the state provision of orphaned children, including providing full support to the activities of the capital's "Döwletliler köşgi", whose pupils are regularly presented with gifts on behalf of the head of state on the occasion of significant dates and holidays. Today there was also a celebration with the participation of creative teams of the Palace.
International children's day, dedicated to all young people of the world, proclaims their rights and interests as the primary concern of society and the state. One of the manifestations of such comprehensive attention on the part of the state is the allocation of new apartments to large families as a gift. Every year, mothers who have given birth and raised eight or more children are awarded the honorary title of Turkmenistan "Ene mähri".
Modern medical centers built in the capital and different regions of the country "Ene mähri" today not only provide qualified medical care to the population, but also conduct research aimed at improving the health of mothers and children, family planning.
Excellent health centers have been built for children all over the country, which will welcome young vacationers for summer holidays on June 2.
