Uzbekistan welcomes the Agreement on the establishment of an inclusive government and the Supreme Council for peace and national accord of Afghanistan's political leaders. This is reported by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan in its press release.

The report notes that Uzbekistan hopes that these important decisions will open the way to political negotiations and the establishment of a lasting and long-term peace in neighboring Afghanistan.

For its part, Uzbekistan will continue to strengthen relations of friendship and good-neighborliness with the Afghan people, supporting the inter-Afghan political process in every possible way and providing all possible assistance in building a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.

Speaking of reaching an Afghan consensus, it should be noted that on May 17 this year, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani signed a power-sharing Agreement with former Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah.

As part of this Agreement, the parties agreed to include representatives of Abdullah's team in the government.

At the signing ceremony, Ghani expressed gratitude to all political figures in Afghanistan, and also said that this is a historic day for the country.

The former Prime Minister tweeted after the agreement was signed that the agreement would provide a path to peace, improve governance and protect people's rights.

Let's recall the history of the issue. As a result of the elections held in September 2019, the current President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, was re-elected for the next five years, winning 50.65% of the vote. His main rival, Abdullah Abdullah, scored 39, 52%. The final election results were announced by the Independent Electoral Commission of Afghanistan on February 18, 2020, and Ashraf Ghani took the oath of office on March 9, 2020. In parallel, Abdullah Abdullah held his own inauguration ceremony.

As a result of the current agreements, Abdullah Abdullah became the head of the Supreme Council for peace and national accord (SCPNA) with the ability to influence the implementation of reforms.
