Since May 1, the fire season has started on the territory of Turkmenistan, which will last until October 1, the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.

In this regard, departmental working meetings were held with the participation of firefighters and environmentalists, including representatives of the nature protection Society, during which a plan of fire prevention measures was outlined. On the eve of the calendar summer, taking into account the weather conditions, preparations have already begun in places since mid-March, including the implementation of a set of preventive measures, which includes the creation of arable strips, clearing vast areas of grass vegetation.

As in previous years, joint patrolling of the suburbs of Ashgabat and the vast surrounding area, including recreation areas, is being organized. There will be dozens of posts provided with rapid response equipment from law enforcement agencies and the fire safety Department of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection. Guards will be provided with uniforms, mobile communications and optical equipment. Public and state environmentalists plan to conduct explanatory conversations with the rural population, shepherds, young people, as well as citizens traveling outside the city, about the inadmissibility of campfires in nature.

Currently, seasonal work is in active phase in the forest plantations of the Akhal velayat and other regions of the country. Taking advantage of clear weather, dozens of units of small-format tractor equipment of various departments, which are assigned to areas of forest plantations, plow and "iron" the spaces between rows, clearing them of green grass, which in a few days with active sun will turn into a dry fuse. Christmas trees are located at a distance of two and a half meters from each other, compact tractors easily pass without harming the trees. With careful cleaning of grass vegetation, the tilled strip will become a barrier to the spread of fire. Where the equipment can't reach, gardeners came to the rescue, who finish the job manually in places located close to the roads.

Employees of state nature reserves are also involved in this activity, which carry out such activities both around protected areas and inside — along roads that approach the cordons. According to the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection, in addition to working in landings, earthmoving equipment "refreshes" multi-meter lanes in places between highways, villages and hilly foothills.
