I cordially congratulate you on the 75th anniversary of the victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945 – a holiday that fills people's hearts with a sense of immense pride! Won at the cost of lives, courage and fearlessness of millions of people, this sacred Victory has become the personification of peace and humanism, friendship and solidarity, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in a festive Address to the people of Turkmenistan.
The trials and heavy losses of 1941-1945, which have gone down in the history of mankind as the most tragic, have left unhealed wounds in the heart of everyone. In this terrible war, which lasted 1418 days, millions of people were victims of the merciless policy of fascism. Families were left without parents, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. The world economy, human culture, and the development of science and education were irreparably damaged. The desire for a great Victory United the Turkmen people with fraternal peoples in a fierce battle with the enemy.
Since then, decades have passed, but even today, the painful memories and sufferings of those fiery years live in the memory of all the peoples who fought. Thousands of our countrymen, who together with other Nations have endured the cruel trials of war, have shown unparalleled examples of courage and bravery, true patriotism and high spirit on the battlefields in their quest for peace. Their military bravery and indomitable courage are inscribed in Golden letters in the history of our Fatherland, - the message emphasizes.
The remaining population of Turkmenistan - old men, young women, and teenagers-worked tirelessly day and night, growing wheat and cotton, and producing good harvests. Sending to the front the necessary products, clothing and food, they made a significant contribution to the future Victory. By donating 7392 kilograms of gold and silver jewelry to the defense Fund, Turkmen citizens showed an example of high humanism.
It is our national tradition to honor the memory of the dead. We worship the capital's memorial complex "Halk hakydasy" - "people's memory", hundreds of monuments to war heroes in cities and villages of the country, with feelings of deep respect and immense gratitude, we cherish the memory of the home front workers – our compatriots, who brought Victory closer with their selfless work in those incredibly difficult years. The heroism and bravery shown during the war by our courageous countrymen will live forever in the hearts of grateful descendants," the Address reads.
As noted in the presidential address, the state policy of Turkmenistan is based on the interests of the people and every citizen. The reforms being carried out in the country are aimed at systematically improving the social and living standards of citizens, ensuring political, economic and cultural prosperity.
The state takes great care of every citizen of the country, war and labor veterans, solving their everyday needs, providing qualified medical care. On the eve of the holiday, the jubilee medal "75 years of Victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945" and valuable gifts were awarded to veterans of the great Patriotic war and widows of war participants, as well as home front workers.
