A briefing was held on “International cooperation of Turkmenistan in the field of healthcare”

A briefing on the topic "International cooperation of Turkmenistan in the field of healthcare" was held today in the MFA building in the format of a videoconference. Heads and employees of individual ministries and departments, diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, political scientists, teachers and students of the country's universities, heads of medical universities in Belarus, Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as numerous representatives of local and foreign media from 20 countries were invited to participate in the online meeting.

During the briefing, a constructive exchange of views was held on the establishment of a global mechanism for resolving crisis situations.

The speakers noted that under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan stands for international cooperation for the protection and maintenance of human health, which is especially relevant in the current period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the participants of the meeting emphasized, as a result of a clear and coordinated policy of Turkmenistan, the country managed to prevent the spread of diseases caused by a new type of coronavirus COVID-19 on its territory.

Adhering to the recommendations of authoritative international organizations, the country has achieved considerable success in promoting its health policy and calls on the world community to work together to overcome the consequences of the pandemic. This concerns cooperation on humanitarian lines, the restoration of trade and economic ties, including ensuring the functioning of transport and transit systems in emergency conditions.

In their speeches, Deputy Minister of health of the Republic of Belarus E. Bogdan, as well as representatives of senior management of foreign universities, in particular, Vice-rector for international relations of the Belarusian state medical University V. Rudenok, Vice-rector of the Tbilisi state medical University I. Kokhreidze and Vice-rector for international relations of the Azerbaijan medical University O. Isayev and other participants of the briefing particularly noted that Turkmenistan, having promptly responded to the outbreak of the pandemic, special emphasis is placed on the prevention of infectious and non-communicable diseases. The country's leadership also attaches great importance to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

As a result of the briefing, the participants agreed that the protection of the health of all people is at the heart of the process of sustainable development, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
