A solemn ceremony of awarding the jubilee medal "To the 75th anniversary of Victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945" to war veterans, wives of war participants and labor veterans who worked in the rear during the war took place in the capital's Mekan Palace. The ceremony is organized as part of events dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day. Representatives of ministries and departments, socio-political organizations, cadets of the military school and Institute, and members of the armed Forces of Turkmenistan were invited to the celebration.
All veterans of the great Patriotic war and home front workers were presented with a commemorative medal and memorable gifts from the President of Turkmenistan in a solemn atmosphere to the sounds of a military March by military Commissar Salih Meredov.
Among those who went to the front as a boy and received an award was Rejep Gylyjov. With the troops of the 1st Belorussian, 2nd Ukrainian, steppe and Stalingrad fronts, he reached Europe and met Victory day in Austria, a hundred kilometers from Vienna. Sergey Agamyan was called up in 1944, and although the war was already coming to an end, he managed to accomplish his feat, for which he was awarded the medal "for bravery". Corporal-signalman Faina Smirnova participated in the capture of Konigsberg, liberated Poland and saluted in honor of the victory over fascism in Germany.
And the great Victory was forged in the rear by those who were still ten or fifteen years old. Sansanbek Janbekov helped doctors at the hospital in Ashgabat. Olga Vinogradova and Fatma Akperova worked in military factories, one in Transbaikalia, the other in the Caucasus. Amangeldi Berdimuradov picked up the ears of wheat in a village near Ashgabat. On the state farm fields in bayramaly after school worked in the school and Rejepgul Babakhanova.
Chairman of the democratic party of Turkmenistan Ata Serdarov addressed the audience with words of congratulations. He assured the veterans that social and political organizations will do everything to ensure that the memory of the military and labor feat of the defenders of the Fatherland will never fade, and the link between generations will not be interrupted.
