Issues related to the development of a new strategy for no communicable diseases in Turkmenistan for 2021-2030, the exchange of experience and the identification of relevant areas for further integration of common efforts in solving the tasks were discussed during a videoconference held in the building of the UN Office in Ashgabat. It was attended by experts from the WHO regional office for Europe (ROE) and representatives of the Ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan.

In the assessment of international experts, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan is successfully working within the framework of national health programs and has formed a Turkmen model based on improving medical services to the population, introducing Turkmen citizens to a healthy lifestyle and giving up bad habits. Turkmenistan's experience in implementing health programs is recognized by WHO as indicative and recommended to other countries for use, the State news Agency reports.

A separate topic of conversation was some aspects of joint efforts to prevent and combat the most common non-communicable diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, etc.

The need for equal access to innovative technologies and relevant medical and laboratory data at the national and regional levels was also noted. The ROE experts stressed that, for its part, the world health organization is ready to provide Turkmenistan with its best practices in this important area.
