A telephone conversation was held today between the Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammedyarov, during which a number of topical issues related to the further strengthening of traditionally friendly relations between the two countries were discussed.
The need to implement the bilateral agreements reached between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan during the official visit of the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Baku on March 11 this year was noted.
At the same time, the parties stressed the special importance of bilateral cooperation in the transport and communication sphere. Direct sea connections on the Caspian Sea between the seaports of “Turkmenbashi” and “Alyat” are an important element in the development of trade and economic relations on the Eurasian continent.
Noting the high efficiency of cooperation in the field of transport, the diplomats focused on the search and implementation of new forms of partnership aimed at ensuring the effective functioning of transport corridors along the East-West line.
In this context, the Ministers agreed to maintain close regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
