Today, Turkmenistan is celebrating world health day, established by the World Health Organization (WHO). This international date has become a national celebration on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and is included in the national holiday calendar.

According to the established tradition, sports events and wide promotion of a healthy lifestyle are organized in Turkmenistan in honor of this international date, the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.

Turkmenistan became a full member of the World Health Organization in 1992. Since then, the Ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan and the WHO European office have been working together under two-year cooperation Agreements. Our country is actively developing mutually beneficial relations with this international organization, and today it is not only a partner, but also an initiator and donor of WHO regional projects.

Every year, the world organization defines the theme of world health day. This year, it is dedicated to nursing and midwifery workers, as it has been all year.

Physical culture and sports in Turkmenistan are of national importance, it is truly the strength and health of the nation, which are the property of the entire society. Sports complexes operate everywhere, and children's and sports grounds have been built in residential neighborhoods of cities and localities. Socially significant events are regularly organized at the state level one of the most popular are bike rides. A National sports contest is also held annually.

An important component of the Presidential policy is the creation of modern high-tech medicine that uses the best world experience. Modern clinics today operate not only in the capital, but also in the country's velayats, providing Turkmen citizens with the opportunity to receive high-quality medical care close to home. Modern medical centers allow you to diagnose and treat diseases, develop preventive measures to prevent the disease.

Speaking about the preventive direction of health care, it should be noted that specialized national programs are implemented for each medical direction. One of them is the fight against non-communicable diseases, including cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes and others. National action in this area is based on the Ashgabat Declaration on non-communicable diseases, adopted at the WHO European Ministerial conference on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, held in Turkmenistan in 2013. Among the priorities of the national strategy in this area are the fight against tobacco Smoking, physical inactivity, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition and an active lifestyle.

Much attention is also paid to the training of highly qualified medical personnel. Another of the most important priorities in the implementation of the policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to improve the health system of Turkmenistan is the development of human resources, training of highly qualified specialists-doctors, paramedics, nurses and brothers, as well as the formation of an extensive system of continuous professional development of existing doctors and medical staff.
