The state scientific center of Virology and biotechnology of “Russian Federal service for supervision of consumer rights protection and human welfare”, "Vector" will start testing a coronavirus vaccine in June. This was stated on the air of the TV channel "Russia " by the General Director of "Vector" Rinat Maksyutov, reports vz.ru, referring to RBC.

Vector was one of the first in Russia to study the new virus and has already developed 26 vaccine prototypes. Now we have to check their effectiveness and safety.

"First, we must show the effectiveness of the vaccine at the level of laboratory tests, and the second, and most important, is to get permission from the Ministry of health to conduct the first phase of clinical research," Maksyutov said.

As the general director noted, after testing on ferrets and mice, tests on lower primates began. There are 26 variants of the vaccine, of which the best will be passed on to preclinical trials. Only then will the vaccine be tested in humans.

Maksyutov also stressed that the coronavirus can enter the category of seasonal diseases and along with other seasonal diseases will be in close proximity to a person, perhaps "with a little more severe cases," he concluded.

Recall that before this, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that preclinical studies of the coronavirus vaccine will be conducted until June 22. Earlier it was reported that the Russian coronavirus vaccine is being tested on ferrets.

In Russia, to date, 4,743 infected COVID-19 have been recorded, 349 have recovered, and 46 people have died. 573 new cases of infection have been officially confirmed.

No cases of COVID-19 infection have been recorded in Turkmenistan.
