The International University of Humanities and development hosted the 3rd open mathematical Olympiad for students of higher educational institutions, which was attended for the first time by representatives of the youth intellectual movement from different countries of the world, the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.
The Olympiad, initiated for the first time in an international format, was organized with the support of the Ministry of education of Turkmenistan in order to identify and develop student’s mathematical abilities, popularize mathematics as a science, expand cultural and educational space, and strengthen friendly ties between experts from different countries of the world.
The international University of Humanities and development was the first among the Turkmen universities to take the initiative to hold an international Olympiad in mathematics. Students of higher educational institutions of our country and abroad were invited to participate in this virtual competition, organized with the support of digital technologies. The announcement of its holding was posted on the official website of the University.
The distance Olympiad was held in two categories. The "A" category is intended for students who specialize in mathematics and computer science, while the "B" category is aimed at students of other majors. According to the rules of the Internet Olympiad, participants were given four hours (240 minutes) to solve problems, and the competition itself was held in the "native" language of our University – English.
After the end of the Olympic relay race, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the 3rd open mathematical Olympiad from among the students of Turkmen universities was held in the conference hall of IUHD. The winners of the gold medal in the category "A" were fans of mathematics from the Magtymguly Turkmen state University Murat Chashemov, Dovran Nurgeldiyev and Murat Sapaev. In the category "B" honored gold medals were awarded to Perman Iljanov – student of the International University of Humanities and development, Akmyrat Tirkeshov – student, Institute of international relations of MFA of Turkmenistan, Jepbar Asgarov and Kadyrberdi Annabaev – students of the Turkmen state Institute of architecture and construction.
Representatives of students from such leading educational centers as Athens Polytechnic University, Sofia University, national University of Uzbekistan, University of Buenos Aires, national University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Belarusian-Russian University, Seoul national University of science and technology, Gulistan state University, Chinese petroleum University and southwestern University of Finance and Economics became active participants of the Olympiad from the international community, Turkish technical University Yildiz, Russian universities-national research University “Higher school of Economics”, Tomsk state University, Samara University, and others.
In total, participants of the competitions in two categories were awarded 27 medals of the highest standard, 15 of them were awarded to Turkmen students. In team intellectual wrestling, which took place on the second Olympic day, five gold medals were awarded, three of which were awarded to Turkmen students, the other two were won by representatives of Russia and Uzbekistan.
The holding of the first international Internet Olympiad by IUHD was highly appreciated by its participating States, which have some experience in organizing similar intellectual competitions. Holding such digital competitive events in Turkmenistan is a clear example of the successful implementation of the concept of digital education adopted in our country, and from now on it will become a good tradition for the International University of Humanities and development.
