The government of Pakistan is committed to implementing the gas pipeline project from Turkmenistan to India. This was stated by the Minister of energy of Pakistan Omar Ayub today at a meeting in Islamabad with the Turkmen Ambassador Atajan Movlamov and the General Director of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited Muhammetmyrat Amanov. Pakistan's Special assistant for oil, Nadeem Babar, also took part in the talks, according to radio Pakistan.
The Turkmen delegation informed the Minister and the special assistant about the work being carried out within the framework of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project and its advantages for the region and Pakistan as a whole.
In particular, it was noted that with the commissioning of the TAPI gas pipeline, Pakistan will be able to diversify energy imports and improve social infrastructure. And the countries participating in this project will create new jobs.
Pakistan's energy Minister praised the progress made in promoting the TAPI project.
Nadeem Babar, in turn, stressed the need to resolve all outstanding issues for the speedy implementation of the project.
The TAPI main gas pipeline project with a length of more than 1.8 thousand kilometers will run from the “Galkynysh” gas field in the South of Turkmenistan through the Afghan cities of Herat and Kandahar, Pakistan's Quetta and Multan to the city of Fazilka in Western India. The planned capacity of the pipeline is designed to supply 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
