A round table on transport potential and regional cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan was held in Geneva

At the initiative of the Permanent mission of Turkmenistan to the UN office in Geneva, together with the UNECE and the Permanent mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN office in Geneva, a round table was organized within the framework of the 82nd session of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on the theme "Transport and communication potential of the Caspian Sea region: Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan-the shortest way".

The event was aimed at presenting Turkmenistan's transport capabilities, infrastructure policy, and state achievements in the context of developing cooperation between the two countries. Also, one of the goals of the round table was to form a vision for the future prospects of transport routes as a response to the UN General ASSEMBLY resolution A / RES/72/212 "Strengthening links between all modes of transport to achieve sustainable development Goals", the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

Speakers were: Ms. O Algaerova Executive Secretary of the UNECE, Secretary General Of the international road transport Union Mr. Umberto de Pretto, Chairman of the OSJD Committee Mr. Tadeusz Jozda, Executive Secretary of the International center for transport diplomacy (as moderator) Mr. I. Runov, Deputy Minister of transport, communications and high technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. E. Valizadeh, Permanent representative of the PRC to the UN office in Geneva Mr. Hu Chen, Deputy head of the international relations Department of the Directorate General for mobility and transport of the European Commission (from Brussels) Mr. Stefano Paci. As well as a number of heads of missions of countries at the level of ambassadors (Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan) and representatives of other international organizations.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side announced that this year it is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent Neutrality status. In conclusion, the permanent mission of Turkmenistan invited participants to an organized photo exhibition that includes the country's achievements in the field of transport.
