On January 29, the national library of Izmir in Turkey hosted a scientific conference and exhibition of books by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "the Source of wisdom", "Music of peace, music of friendship and brotherhood" and "Turkmenistan-the heart of the great silk road".
According to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper, the organizers were the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkey (Ankara) and the Consulate General of Turkmenistan (Istanbul) with the assistance of the mayor's office of the Konak region of Izmir. Representatives of the administration of Izmir and the Konak region, scientific organizations of Turkey, public figures, Turkmen and Turkish students studying in higher educational institutions of Turkey gathered in the spacious hall of the National library.
The level and importance of the event emphasized the participation of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Turkey and Consul General of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Turkey, the mayor of the region of Konak, the head of Department of culture of Izmir, Director of the National library of Izmir.
In their speeches, representatives of the Turkmen side focused on the fact that giving Turkmenistan the status of permanent neutrality by the Community of Nations and fixing it in the resolutions of the UN General Assembly in 1995 and 2015 became a new phenomenon in world practice and international relations. The participants were also familiarized with the priorities of the internal and foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan, and in the context of democratic reforms – with the goals of constitutional reform. Also, with the achievements in the implementation of socio-economic programs, the strategy of digitalization, a set of measures to implement the investment, transport, logistics and tourism potential, and increase the country's export opportunities.
In their speeches, the mayor of the Konak region, the Director of the National library of Izmir, and employees of reputable public and scientific institutions emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's policy of neutrality in maintaining peace and security in the region, establishing and promoting friendly and mutually beneficial ties between the countries of the world and the region. For a quarter of a century, Turkmenistan's neutrality has proved to be an effective political and diplomatic tool for the development of international relations on equal and constructive principles, the principles of peace, good neighborliness and openness, it was noted during the speeches. All speakers also noted the progressive nature of the Turkmen-Turkish cooperation. With great interest, the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition of books by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov devoted to the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people.
On February 5, 2020, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkey held a briefing in Ankara. The briefing was attended by Advisor to the President of Turkey Yalchin Topchu, representatives of the Ministry of foreign Affairs, Union of chambers and commodity exchanges of Turkey, representatives of foreign States and international organizations accredited in Ankara, deputies of the Mejlis of Turkey, representatives of TV and radio company "TRT", “Anadolu” Agency, Newspapers "Dünya" and other media.
Representatives of the mass media and the local public are provided with information about the history of Turkmenistan's neutrality. Its importance in terms of strengthening international and regional stability, cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations and its specialized agencies for the maintenance of universal peace and sustainable development was emphasized.
The participants were also introduced to the upcoming events in our country and abroad this year, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan. The information was supplemented by a video about the achievements of our country. An exhibition was also organized within the framework of the event, where one could get acquainted with the works of respected President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and cultural values of the Turkmen people.
