An informative event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality was held in Berlin

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Germany held an informative event dedicated to the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent Neutrality this year under the slogan "Turkmenistan is the homeland of Neutrality". 

The event, which took place in the building Of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Berlin, was attended by about 60 people, including representatives of the German Ministry of foreign Affairs, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Germany, representatives of the diplomatic club "Willkommen in Berlin" at the German foreign Ministry, political and economic circles, social and scientific organizations and German companies, as well as representatives of the Turkmen Diaspora and students from Turkmenistan studying in higher educational institutions in Berlin.

Representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Germany and the Ambassador, Commissioner of the German Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, Michael Siebert, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. 

Speaking about the importance of the 25th anniversary of the permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, which is a landmark event in the independent history of Turkmenistan, and a milestone in its foreign policy, the unique nature of the policy of Neutrality of Turkmenistan, implemented under the leadership of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was noted. During the speeches, it was also noted that our country has chosen a model of positive neutrality, which sets out its fundamental provisions: peacefulness, non-interference in the Affairs of other States, respect for their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and non-participation in international military organizations and treaties. Speaking about the importance of neutrality in modern conditions, the fact that the UN General Assembly declared December 12 as the International day of neutrality on the initiative of Turkmenistan was cited.

During the speeches, the importance of cooperation with international organizations in the context of implementing the policy of positive Neutrality of Turkmenistan aimed at maintaining and maintaining political stability and peace in the region, developing good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation, as well as the important role of our state in implementing international actions to achieve the goals of sustainable development was noted.

In this regard, the event participants were informed that the year 2020 was declared the year of "Turkmenistan — the homeland of Neutrality" in Turkmenistan, as well as the high-level International conference "the Policy of neutrality and its importance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development" held in Ashgabat on December 12 this year.

At the same time, the speeches highlighted the main directions of political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, where the significance of the summit meetings was highlighted.

In the context of trade and economic development between Turkmenistan and Germany, the parties noted the most important mechanisms and their role in this direction — the Turkmen-German working group on economic cooperation, the days of the German economy in Ashgabat, the days of the economy of Turkmenistan in Germany, as well as business forums and international economic events held in our countries. In this regard, outlining priority and promising areas for trade and economic expansion, the guests were introduced to large-scale and regional projects being implemented in Turkmenistan.

Saying that one of the priority areas of Turkmen-German relations is cultural and humanitarian cooperation, strengthening contacts in the field of culture and education, the special role assigned to the archaeological exhibition "Margiana – the Kingdom of the bronze age on the territory of Turkmenistan", which acted as a "cultural business card" of Turkmenistan, and allowed representatives of various segments of the German population to get acquainted and understand the history, culture, identity and current development of our country.

At the end of the event, the Embassy of Turkmenistan organized a festive reception, where guests had the opportunity to taste the tastes of dishes of the Turkmen national cuisine.
