On January 28-29, in the framework of the OSCE project "Promoting the development of green ports in the Caspian Sea region", a meeting dedicated to the successful promotion and strengthening of friendly relations in the Caspian region was held in the International seaport of Turkmenbashi. The forum was attended by members of the OSCE delegation Thomas Trappmann and Alexander Schley, as well as heads and specialists of the Agency "Turkmendenizderyayollary" (Turkmen sea and river routes) and the Turkmenbashi International seaport.

The forum discussed further steps to implement energy efficiency and trade facilitation in port operations, as well as exchanged views on sustainable trade in the Caspian region in the future and the role of detailing as a trade facilitation tool.

Such meetings and seminars in leading international "green" ports with the involvement of experts and the participation of delegations of Caspian countries help to understand how best to use digitalization to simplify trade, transport, and document management.

The Caspian ports of the cities of Turkmenbashi, Baku, Aktau and Kuryk plan to create a digital platform to facilitate the exchange of information among themselves. The cooperation of the international seaport of Turkmenbashi with the OSCE, as well as with the ports of the Caspian region, is one of the important steps in managing further environmental protection and accelerating such effective and timely data exchange in the Caspian region.

Through this innovative flagship project, the OSCE contributes to strengthening regional sustainability in the areas of communications, security, and economic growth by implementing a single digital platform in the Caspian region.

The project "Promoting the development of green ports in the Caspian Sea region" was launched in 2019 in the form of a series of events related to the common theme of issues in the Caspian region in Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.
