The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the Berlin forum

The Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov took part in the conference on sustainable environmental development of the Central Asian region, which was held in Berlin.

The forum participants also include delegations from Germany, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the EU, RCPDCA, IFAS, the German society for international cooperation, and the Swiss Agency for development and cooperation, the website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The meeting discussed a wide range of issues related to ecology and environmental protection, integration of water resources management, biodiversity conservation, combating desertification, development of mountain areas, and others.

Within the framework of the high - level conference, a regional initiative on climate and security - "Green Central Asia" - was approved in order to maintain a multilateral dialogue on aspects of climate change and related risks.

It aims to increase the resilience of Central Asian countries to internal and external risk factors, such as climate and environmental factors. The initiative is intended to play a significant role in the implementation of the new EU strategy for Central Asia.

The heads of delegations expressed support for the “Green Central Asia” regional Initiative and signed a joint Declaration.

Also during the working trip, Deputy Prime Minister and foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a number of bilateral meetings in Berlin: with his German counterpart Heiko Maas, European Union representative for foreign Affairs and security issues Joseph Borrell, Deputy foreign policy and security adviser to the German Chancellor Christina Beinhof, with the European Union special representative for Central Asia Peter Burian, Chairman of the Board of the Eastern Committee of the German economy Michael Harms, and with Mirwais Nab - Deputy foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
