The international competition for the best desert photography was held from March 14 to October 14, 2019 as part of the Central Asian Desert Initiative (CADI) project. This project is implemented jointly by the University of Greifswald, the Michael Zukkov Foundation (Greifswald) and the Food and agriculture organization of the United Nations (FAO), the sub-regional office for Central Asia (Ankara).
Everyone was invited to participate in the contest "Desert in focus", with the condition that the photos sent should be taken in the deserts of the temperate zone on the territory of Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan. There were two categories in the competition: "nature of deserts" and "Man and the desert".
The aim of the competition was to draw attention to the unique world of deserts, their conservation and sustainable use.
According to the results of the competition, the second place was taken by the work of our compatriot Alexander Pavlenko "Ancient Uzbek", the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.
