China national football team headed by ex – “Everton” player Li Te

Ex – “Everton" footballer Li Te has been appointed as head coach of the Chinese national football team, the AFC official website reports. The 42-year-old was replaced by Marcello Lippi, who resigned on November 15, 2019.

Chinese specialist Li Te when he was a player played for English "Everton" and "Sheffield United". Most of his playing career was spent at "Liaoning" football club. The player made his name in 1999, when "Liaoning" won silver in the championship.  After playing at the 2022 FIFA world Cup, he moved to English club "Everton", where his rather successful performance was interrupted by a series of injuries. He then spent some time at Sheffield United before returning to China, where he joined "Chengdu Blades". He finished his playing career in his native team "Liaoning Huvin".

Since 1995, the midfielder has been involved in national team matches and was part of the team for the 2002 FIFA world Cup. He played 92 games for the Chinese national team and scored 6 goals.

After completing his career as a football player, in 2011, Li Te worked as an assistant coach in the Chinese national team and local club "Guangzhou Evergrande", after which he independently headed the team "Hebei" and "Wuhan".

In qualifying for the 2022 world Cup, China is 8 points behind Syria, which is in first place in group A, with a match in reserve, and ahead of the Philippines on additional indicators. Recall that the third stage of the qualifying round of the 2022 world Cup will get the winners of the groups, as well as the four best teams that took second places in the groups.
