A telephone conversation took place today between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
Warmly greeting each other, the heads of the two friendly States exchanged congratulations on the upcoming new year, 2020, wishing health, happiness, great achievements in all endeavors and in joint work for the benefit of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the further development of bilateral relations in the context of implementing the agreements reached earlier. The leaders of the States noted with satisfaction that the effectiveness of the Turkmen-Uzbek interaction today is due to the common interests and the presence of a strong political will to deepen constructive cooperation in every possible way.
Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the solid potential for further expansion of multi-faceted partnership, including in the fuel and energy sector, industrial sector, transport and communications, agribusiness and a number of other areas, and the implementation of new large-scale joint projects that meet the goals of economic prosperity of both countries and the region as a whole.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on topical issues of regional and global agenda of mutual interest. The sides stressed their commitment to coordinated interaction and mutual support, both in the bilateral format and within the framework of the UN, CIS and other international organizations, in order to ensure universal peace, security and sustainable development.
In this regard, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the high level of events held by Turkmenistan as the country presiding over the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2019. Uzbekistan, which is taking the baton of the CIS presidency in 2020, highly appreciates the efforts of the Turkmen leader to activate the political-legal, trade-economic and humanitarian integration of the Commonwealth countries, and to increase the role of this organization in global processes, the head of the friendly state said.
Stressing that neutral Turkmenistan always stands for a constructive dialogue with all countries of the world community, both in bilateral and multilateral format, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the importance of the Declaration on strategic economic partnership of the CIS countries adopted at the summit of the CIS heads of state.
At the end of the talks, expressing confidence that relations between the two countries based on historical and cultural community, the centuries-old good neighborly relations will continue to flourish, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev once again congratulated each other with coming New year and conveyed best wishes for the prosperity of both Nations.
