The round table discussion of the review of the implementation of the state program for 2015-2020 of the state youth policy of Turkmenistan and possible joint actions of UN agencies and national partners in 2020 to prepare a new program was held at the UN House in Ashgabat, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
The round table was attended by representatives of UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, IOM, RSPCA in Turkmenistan, as well as ministries and public organizations that participated in the preparation of the analysis of the situation of youth in Turkmenistan. The event was organized jointly by the Office of the UN Permanent coordinator in Turkmenistan, the Ministry of sport and youth policy, the Youth organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli.
Opening the meeting, the UN Resident coordinator in Turkmenistan Elena Panova stressed the importance of the agenda of the round table. "Youth is an important resource that is worth investing in. Young people, endowed with abilities, rights and opportunities, become an effective driving force for innovative changes in their societies, contributing to the progress and development of the state. Youth policy is a global theme of the 2030 Agenda. In Turkmenistan, where almost half of the population is young people, we have a successful experience of working with the government for young people and in the interests of young people, " the diplomat said.
In continuation of what was said by the UN Permanent coordinator in Turkmenistan, Minister of sports and youth policy of Turkmenistan Dayanch Gulgeldiyev, noted that the care of the young generation is one of the priorities of the state policy of the respected President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Its essence is to create conditions and opportunities for effective self-realization for young people, to help reveal and put at the service of society and the state its creative, creative potential. At the initiative of the leader of the nation, the country adopted the Law "On state youth policy", the State program for 2015-2020 of the state youth policy of Turkmenistan, as well as the state program to support young scientists, employment of young professionals, a credit line was opened for young families to purchase housing. An important factor in the successful implementation of the youth policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is the unity of actions of state structures, public organizations and the private sector of the economy in accordance with the new global strategy "Youth 2030", which serves as a unique opportunity for coordinated cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN, Dayanch Gulgeldiev said.
In accordance with the agenda of the "round table" was made a review of the implementation of the State program for 2015-2020 of the state youth policy of Turkmenistan, the presentation of the situation analysis of youth in Turkmenistan, and also structured is presented next steps and joint action of UN agencies and national partners to develop new programs for 2021-2025 years for implementation of the youth policy of the leader of the nation.
Summing up the results of the work, all participants noted that a constructive dialogue took place, interesting proposals were made that could be reflected in the new program, the national vision and the global agenda for the further promotion of youth policy were clearly outlined. Thus, the meeting of representatives of UN agencies and national partners became a platform for defining and coordinating joint actions in the next year.
