The 2020 AFC Futsal Championship will be attended by 16 teams, which will be divided into four groups. Before the draw of the tournament, Turkmenistan, as the host of the competition, was in the first pot together with the teams of Iran, Japan and Uzbekistan. That is, Turkmenistan team will definitely not play with these teams in the group stage.
The Ashgabat Olympic Complex will host 2020 AFC Futsal Championship, where the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games were held in September 2017. According to the results of the Asian championship, 5 teams will get the right to play in the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup, which will be held from September 12 to October 4 in Lithuania.
