Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Russia visited MGIMO

MGIMO rector Anatoly Torkunov met with Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Russia Batyr Niyazliev at the Moscow State Institute of international relations of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the official website of MGIMO reports.

According to the information, the parties discussed steps to give additional impetus to cooperation between MGIMO and the Institute of international relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In October 2017, the universities signed a cooperation agreement, the document implies a further expansion of activities in the implementation of joint programs, academic exchange, organization of conferences and symposiums.

The rector of MGIMO conveyed to the Ambassador an oral invitation for the rector of IMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Baba Zakhyrov to visit MGIMO on a working visit in February-March 2020. The sides also discussed various aspects of the training of our citizens in MGIMO and activities of the Turkmen community.

At the end of the conversation, Ambassador Batyr Niyazliev proposed to hold in 2020 a scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan. The rector supported the proposal, the approximate date of the event is October 2020.

Moscow state Institute of international relations is one of the leading Russian universities. MGIMO is one of the oldest University centers in the country for training international specialists. MGIMO implements bachelor's and master's degree programs in 16 areas of training, trains graduate students in 28 scientific specialties, conducts intensive language training in 54 foreign languages (20 language departments), and implements programs of postgraduate special education. The University has nine faculties, three institutes and a School of business and international competences.
