Turkmenistan and Norway held political consultations in Oslo

Promising areas of bilateral relations, regional and international agenda, as well as the situation in Central Asia and Afghanistan,  were discussed during the political consultations held in Oslo at the level of Deputy foreign Ministers of the delegations of Norway and Turkmenistan.

According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the sides exchanged views on cooperation within the framework of international organizations and cooperation in promising areas of the economy, such as energy and its renewable sources. They also discussed the exchange of practice and knowledge in the field of advanced technologies and innovations, the development of relations in the field of science, education, sports, and tourism.

During the working visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Oslo, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry held a brief meeting with the Special Representative of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry to promote Norway's candidacy to the UN Security Council for the period 2021-2022, Eyvind Nordsletten. The parties, noting the special importance of mutual support of candidates on international platforms, assured to continue the positive experience of coherence.

The delegation of Turkmenistan also held a meeting with the special Representative of the Norwegian foreign Ministry for Afghanistan, Per Albert Ilsaas, during which the parties noted the special contribution of Turkmenistan to maintaining peace and security in the entire Central Asian region, as well as in neighboring Afghanistan.

In addition, the Turkmen delegation met with the head of OMS Agnar Forde, with whom they discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation between business structures of the two countries, where there is a huge potential for mutual implementation.
