Ashgabat holds event dedicated to 96th anniversary of establishment of Republic of Turkey

A solemn reception was held at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.

The celebration, organized by the Turkish Embassy in Turkmenistan, was attended by members of the Government of Turkmenistan, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, businessmen, journalists and other invited guests.

Reception began with the performance of national anthems of the Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan. Then, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey Mustafa Kapucu delivered a speech and read out a congratulatory address from the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the nation.

During his speech, the Ambassador of Turkey noted that Turkey over the years of sovereignty has successfully implemented major development initiatives and has become the country with the 18th in the world and 7th largest economy in Europe. Mustafa Kapucu also emphasized that in recent years, relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey have made significant progress in various fields.

"To this date, more than one hundred bilateral agreements, which constitute the legal basis of the intense cooperation in these areas, have been signed between the two countries", – said Mustafa Kapucu.

The ambassador also noted that "the brotherly relations between the Turkish and Turkmen people have a long and deep-rooted history, and rely on "one nation two states" principle". At the same time, Mustafa Kapucu emphasized that "the Republic of Turkey has always experienced the pride and privilege of being the first country to recognize Turkmenistan after its independence and to open its Embassy in Ashgabat".

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Purchekov, who spoke in response, congratulated the Turkish friends on the holiday on behalf of the country's leadership.

The gala evening continued with live music accompanied by a dinner for guests. A special holiday for them was the performance of the artists of the Izmir State Opera and Ballet Theater, who performed works of Turkish and Turkmen music.
